“They are the future of Super Falcons” — Waldrum praises Imuran, Deborah and others

Coach Randy Waldrum singled out Rofiat Imuran for praises, following her performance against the World Champion United States of America on Saturday.

Imuran is one of the three Falconets players drafted to the squad for the friendlies after impressive outing at the last FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup.

Imuran, Tosin Demehin and Deborah Abiodun all made their debut for the senior side, while Esther Onyenezide didn’t get a taste of action.

Speaking ahead of the second game in Washington DC, Randy Waldrum praised Imuran and others for their contributions, adding that they are future of the team.

“She’s (Imuran) always been a good player, not only her but the ones we’ve called it like Tosin, Deborah and Esther and I think they are good and learning.

“The difference is when we had them in our team we didn’t have chance to see them, and play in senior level competition.”

“The game against Ivory for example, you lose, you are out of the World Cup, so you have to be careful on how you bring in these players, but now that we have a year to prepare for the World Cup next summer, it gives us time to see more of them. She did well and I can’t tell you, she’s one of the future of the team.”

The youngsters will be aiming for another opportunity when the team clash with United States for the second time on Tuesday.
