UEFA Champions League: Nigerian Stars face tough Group Stage Opponents

Nigerian stars Victor Moses, Emmanuel Emenike, Aaron Samuel and Henry Onyekuru on Thursday all found out their group opponents in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League.

English champions Chelsea, who also have Nigerian International Victor Moses on their pay-roll were handed a tough group.

The Blues were drawn in group C where they face Atletico Madrid, AS Roma and Qarabağ FK.

Emenike’s Olympiacos F.C., who are Greek Champions will face Juventus, Barcelona and Sporting CP in group D.

Striker Aaron Samuel permanently joined CSKA Moscow this season from Guangzhou R&F after a loan spell at the VEB Arena last term.

The Russian club were housed in group A where they play against S.L. Benfica, Manchester United and FC Basel.

For Henry Onyekuru, who is on loan from Everton at Anderlecht, his Belgian side got FC Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic in group B.

The draw for the 63rd edition of the tournament was held in Monaco.

Champions League holders Real Madrid will face Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham in a difficult group following the draw ceremony in Monaco on Thursday.

Barcelona did not get an easy pass, either, as they were drawn against Juventus, Olympiakos and Sporting CP in Group D.

Aside from Spurs, English teams received slightly easier draws, with Chelsea’s matchup with Atletico Madrid among the more challenging matchups, while Liverpool will face Sevilla.

Manchester United will face Benfica, FC Basel and CSKA Moscow in Group A, while Manchester City get Shakhtar Donetsk, Napoli and Feyenoord in Group F
