Warnock questions Solskjaer’s decision to bench Ighalo against Sevilla

Former Liverpool defender Steven Warnock has questioned Ole Gunnar Solkjear’s decision to leave Odion Ighalo on the bench for so long during  Manchester United’s Europa League semi-final defeat to Sevilla on Sunday.

The Red Devils fell to a 2-1 defeat against the La Liga side to miss out on a place in the final.

Bruno Fernandes put United ahead from the penalty spot in the 9th minute.

Former Liverpool player Suso put the Spanish outfit on level terms in the 26th minute while Luuk de Jong  netted the winning goal after connecting well with a Jesus Navas’ cross in the 76th minute.

Ighalo was only called into action in the 92nd minute but Warnock cannot understand how Ighalo was not on the pitch earlier.

“The one who would scare me coming on is Odion Ighalo – he’s one of the best finishers I’ve seen in a long time,” Warnock was quoted by the daily star.

“I just don’t understand why he didn’t bring him on with 20 minutes to go.”
