We want to emulate Enyimba by winning the Champions league – Daniel Barnabas

Rivers United striker Daniel Barnabas says they are not afraid of Al-Hilal of Sudan and they are ready to surprise people.

Rivers United will lock trade tackles with the Sudanese giants in the round two of the CAF Champions League next month.

The Pride of Rivers secured second round belt after beating Young Africans of Tanzania home and away in the first round of the competition.

Reacting to the draw, Daniel Barnabas who is making his debut in the African elite competition, said they are eager to make it to the Group phase of the competition.

”Although we will approach the game with caution as we respect the opponents but we are the pride of Rivers, we carry the Nigerian tag which means we fear no foe as we will do the talking on the pitch, he concluded”.

“If Rivers United get a win over Al Hilal in both legs then they will play in the money spinning group stage of the CAF CL for the first time and will look forward to emulate the Enyimba of 2003 as they aim to bring home the CAF CL trophy back to Nigeria.”

Rivers United will host the first leg in Port Harcourt on 15-16 of October while return leg will come up 7 days later in Sudan.
