Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong expressed his joy at rejoining the national team camp after a long absence.

Ekong arrived the Super Eagles’ Africa Cup of Nations training camp after PAOK’s impressive 4-0 victory over OFI Crete FC in the Greek Super League on Wednesday, January 3.

Despite missing out on Nigeria’s last eleven games, the CB emerged as a surprise inclusion in Peseiro’s final 25-man squad.

Taking to social media, the CB posted:

“Honoured to be back with the team for another AFCON. Let’s get to work!!!”

The 30-year-old was a key part of the squad that secured a third-place finish in the 2019 edition in Egypt.

William Troost-Ekong also played in all four of Nigeria’s games at the 2021 Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
