Former Director General National sports commission Alhassan Yakmut has stated that the eventual return of sports shouldn’t be taken with levity and has given a suggestion on what should be done when the approval to have sports return is ratified by the Presidential task force.
Yakmut speaking in a chat with www.brila.net said coaches will need to acquire knowledge as well as athletes on how best to handle their gradual return having been unusually out for so long.
He added that while everyone wants to see Sports return, these are the immediate challenges that will have to be sorted on a technical level apart from the administrative aspects.
“They can only keep fit for now and certainly the quality of drills and skills will drop because players training have been personalized. The coaches will also need to acquire some form of training too on how to address athletes upon commencement of training to guard against injuries having been out for long. So the major challenge for everyone will be how to integrate everyone back having been sedentary for long.”
