Zaidu Sanusi produced another professional performance as his club FC Porto defeated bitter rivals Benfica 2-1 at the Estadio da Luz.
The Super Eagles left back started the match from the bench, following coach Sergio Conceciao’s decision to stick with Windell.
Sanusi however got his chance with 19 minutes left to play and the former Santa Clara man made most of the opportunity, proving his mettle once again.
He made two blocks, completed eight passes and recorded one clearance.
The 25-year-old has now featured in 28 league matches for the Portuguese Champions this season.
The hosts got the O Clássico off to a great start, taking the lead in the 10th minute when Gonçalo Ramos’ header found the net after rebounding off the bar and Diogo Costa.
Porto equalised on the stroke of half-time, when Mateus Uribe swept Pepê Aquino’s clever ball into the bottom corner.
The Dragons kept pressing for the winner and had two goals ruled out by the VAR before half-time break.
Porto finally scored the decisive goal in the 54th minute and victory ensure they remain in the title race, seven points behind leaders Benfica.
