Zanetti makes shocking and hilarious revelation about former teammate Taribo West

Former Inter Milan Captain, Javier Zanetti has made a shocking and hilarious revelation about former Nigerian defender Taribo West back in their playing days at the club.

Zanetti told teammate Christian Vieri in a live Instagram live session that Taribo West invited him and other teammates for dinner at his residence, but only for them to depart without eating because of the defender’s endless prayer session.

“Do you remember Nigerian Taribo West?” Vieri asked Javier Zanetti;

With a huge smile on his face, the current vice president of Inter began to relate two particular anecdotes of the African defender who wore that club’s shirt at the end of the last millennium.

“We did not know what had happened to Taribo and suddenly he appeared in the middle of February. We tell: ‘Taribo a month we wait for you ’. And he answers me: ‘Captain, I have married, in my country, it is a month of vacation’”,

“He invited us to his house because it was his birthday. What time are we going, Taribo? At 7, he tells us.

“With Córdoba, we went and buy him a gift. We arrived at 8 and he started praying. An hour, two hours, we were hungry!

“Three hours… The birthday ended and we left without eating anything”, Said Zanetti, who made his debut with the Inter shirt in 1995 and retired in the same outfit in 2014.

Taribo West spent two successful years with Inter Milan between 1997 to 1999 and made 44 appearances and scoring a goal in the process.

Taribo West and Zanetti were part of the squad that won the 1997-98 Europa league cup for the club, with the former Derby County and Auxerre defender scoring in an away game against German side Shackle O4.

Taribo later left Inter Milan to play for archrivals AC Milan in 1999 and only managed to make four appearances and find the back of the net once, before ending his Italian adventure.

The 1996 Atlanta Olympics goals medalist had since established his own ministry after his retirement from professional football.
