He is a player with great potential! Osimhen’s Lille move excites Barcelona Legend

The Man behind the scene during Barcelona’s recent golden era between 2003 and 2010, Marc Ingla, has spoken glowingly of the qualities of Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen signed a five-year deal with Lille and joins what the player himself described as a “high quality project”.

Indeed, it is what it seems with former Barcelona vice-president of football affairs, Ingla, who is in-charge at the Domaine de Luchin.

In 2017, the Catalan set the plan in motion to build a football brand that will rival not just the biggest sides in France, but also across Europe.

Per Jack Pitt-Brooke [Independent] the management lessons he (Ingla) learned at Barcelona can be transferred to Ligue 1.

Ingla in a 2017 interview about Lille said, “We want to promote a spectacular and winning football playing style.

“Betting with young talents. We want to do that openly. We want to share this passion, this emotion, with people in the region but also elsewhere through the use of internet tools.”

Two years down the line and Osimhen has joined that project, the Nigerian can go on to impact Ligue Un in the words of Ingla.

“We welcome Victor Osimhen today with a lot of fun. He is a player with great potential who has already demonstrated his value and his ability to establish himself as a good scorer in a nearby league, in Belgium, which can also facilitate his integration.

“Victor is a fast forward player with a very vertical game, great physical abilities and a real intuition in front of the goal. Despite his young age, he is already international in Nigeria.

“He goes one step at a time, which allows him to consolidate his nascent fame in the world football landscape. It will be our job and especially that of the technical staff to help maintain this progress.”
