Heartbreak for Ajayi as West Brom leaves Old Trafford empty handed

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi played all entire minutes at Old Trafford as West Brom suffered a narrow defeat against Manchester United in the premier league.

Fresh from international break where he played just 25 minutes of Nigeria’s two African cup of Nations qualifying game against Sierra Leone last weekend, Ajayi went straight into the baggies lineup as they continue their search for great results.

The Nigerian center half put in a very good display as he helped shut out all attacks from Manchester United, but his side was unlucky not to get at least a point from the match.

After the first half ended without a goal, Ajayi and his teammates thought they have the advantage earlier in the second half, but Ref David Coote overturned their penalty after seeing the replay.

The controversy continued as the referee awarded a penalty to Manchester United for handball; Bruno Fernandes’ initial penalty was saved but scored a second time to seal the win after the referee ordered a retake.

West Brom failed to find an equalizer and the Slavian Billic men have now lost their last two matches to Spurs and Manchester United by just a goal.
