2026 WCQ: Peseiro Receives Onyemaechi Boost

Bruno Onyemaechi has been officially declared fit for to face Lesotho in today’s 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixture.

The defender’s participation was in jeopardy after a recent injury scare during Boavista’s 3-1 home defeat to CD Feirense last weekend, forcing him to be substituted in the second half.

Despite initial concerns, Onyemaechi has defied the odds and rejoined his international teammates at their Uyo camp for the World Cup qualifiers opener.

Initially the Boavista’s defender worked separately from the Super Eagles in the first session on Tuesday, showcasing his determination to make the match day squad .

However he participated fully in Wednesday night’s training and according to Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro, the player has made a remarkable recovery to be part of the squad.

Having made three appearances for the Super Eagles, Onyemaechi’s return to full fitness comes as a significant boost for the team.

The Super Eagles will face Lesotho at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo later today.
