2026 WCQ: Super Eagles Ready for Lesotho — Awaziem

Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has affirmed the team’s readiness to re-enter the global football stage at the World Cup.

The Super Eagles will kick off their qualifying campaign this Thursday against Lesotho at the Nest of Champions in Uyo.

Jose Peseiro’s side started their training session for the encounter with 23 players on Wednesday.

Speaking ahead of the game, Awaziem expressed the team’s commitment to securing maximum points in the opening group game.

“It was a wonderful session today. We are all preparing for the first game in the qualifiers,” Awaziem told the Super Eagles media.

“We all want to go to the World Cup, it’s our dream, Nigerians want to see us there and we are towards qualifying as well.

“We will work hard to get maximum points in these two games and then focus on the other games. All the boys are battle-ready and focused on the task ahead”, he added.

The Super Eagles defeated Lesotho twice during African 2022 African Cup Nations qualifiers.
