Bayern Munich let themselves down in the 2-1 defeat to Real Madrid and many of the players will have to examine their performances according to former Deportivo La Coruna and Ex Nigeria International goalkeeper, Peter Rufai.

Bayern Munich threw away a 1-0 lead against Los Blancos at the Allianz Arena in the first-leg semi final of teh UEFA Champions League but, the manner of the defeat showed a team with a subdued commitment Rufai said.

The former goal tender who was on match analysis duties on Brila FM, Wednesday, said “this is not the Bayern Munich we know.”
‘They’ll ask themselves many questions. The commitment from Real Madrid wasn’t so solid enough to tear Bayern apart.

‘Of course the injury that hit Robben also affected them and when you have a player who is relied on by the team but suffers an early injury, it’ll have its effect,’ Rufai said after the game.

He also predicted a tougher second-leg for the Bavarians as he expects the likes of Ronaldo, Marcelo, Sergio Ramos and other big names in the Los Blancos side to lead the charge next week at the Santiago Bernabeu.

‘The second-leg will show us the true quality of Real Madrid when their individual stars, will expectedly, rise to the occasion. Bayern Munich don’t have such numbers in their ranks.’

‘I see Real Madrid defending the trophy; that’s what I think they’re trying to do.’
