Nigeria football legend, Kanu Nwankwo has suggested that football may be dying in the country and the fans are feed up with excuses of non-performance of the national team.
Kanu, who inspired Nigeria to gold at the 1996 Atlanta Olympic Games and earned 87 caps for Nigeria, stressed that the Country could not continue on the unfamiliar path of missing out on major tournaments and promoting delusions about ” Africa missing Nigeria when we are not at the Nations Cup.”

Nigeria missed consecutive editions of the Africa Cup of Nations since clinching the title in 2013, but have found a renewed vigor since the appointment of German Coach, Gernot Rohr.

The Three-time African Champions are now on course for a sixth world cup appearance next year in Russia.

The two-time African footballer of the year however praised the current Technical Adviser of the Super Eagles for his selection of young, quality players with the prospect of long playing international careers.
