Adekuoroye Pick Bronze, As Blessing Onyebuchi And Aminat Adeniyi Misses Olympic Tickets

Nigeria wrestling sensation Odunayo Adekuoroye picked her third World Championship bronze medal as she defeated Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita at the World Wrestling Championship in Kazakhstan on Thursday.

Adekuoroye competed in the women’s 57kg of freestyle at the 2019 UWW World Wrestling Championship holding in Nur-Sultan, thump Moldova’s Anastasia Nichita 10-0 in the bronze medal match.

 

Already, she has booked her place at Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games for making it to the last four of the championship.

 

The Commonwealth Games champion has previously won bronze and silver at the 2015 and 2017 editions of the competition respectively.

 

However, it was not same sweet story for her compatriots, as Aminat Adeniyi and Blessing Onyebuchi missed out from the podiums and Olympic Games slots in the process.

 

Aminat Adeniyi lost to Ukraine’s Yulia Ostaphchuk who also went on lose eventual finalist, Kyrgyzstan’s Aisuluu Tynybekova.

 

Blessing Oborududu who is still in the race for an Olympic slot will take on New Zealand’s Michelle Montague.
