AfroBasket 2017: Tunisia dethrones Nigeria

Tunisia defeated Nigeria to win their second AfroBasket championship on Saturday at the Salle Omnisport de Rades.

It was joy for the hosts as they put Nigeria to the sword winning 77-65 before a packed arena.

D’Tigers captain, Ike Diogu led the stats board with a double double, scoring 20 points and 10 rebounds.

The Carthage Eagles picked the the second and third quarters after losing the first. The teams finished level on points in the fourth.

The defeat ended Nigeria’s ambition for back to back titles.

Saturday’s triumph brings Tunisia’s record in the championship to 2 Titles, a runner-up spot and four third place finish.

Earlier in the day, Senegal defeated Morocco 73-62 to finish in third place.
