Akwuegbu applauds Ighalo’s new deal with Manchester United

Former Super Eagles forward Benedict Akwuegbu says Odion Ighalo made the right decision to remain with Manchester United, despite the huge offer from Shanghai Shenhua.

Akwuegbu who captained the Super Eagles on four different occasions during his playing days said Ighalo’s decision to extend his loan deal with the English giants shows he still have the passion to compete at the highest level.

 

 

Ighalo’s previous six months deal expired on Sunday, but the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to extend the deal that will see remain at the club until January 2021.

 

 

“It’s good that he stay in Manchester United, Premier League is more competitive and it’s really good for him,” he told www.brila.net.

 

 

Meanwhile, reports have it that Manchester United will paid Shanghai Shenhua £6m to keep Odion Ighalo until January while £130,000 of his £300,000-a-week wages will also be paid by the Club.

 

 

The 31-year-old’s current deal runs till 2022 and he’s expected to ink a new deal £400,000 weekly new deal when he returns from his loan spell.
