Alonso Teases Victor Boniface’s Return

Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach Xabi Alonso has provided insights into the progress of striker Victor Boniface, indicating that while he’s not quite ready to make his return, his comeback might not be far off.

Boniface, who sustained an adductor injury while preparing for the Africa Cup of Nations in January, has been sidelined ever since.

However, recent developments suggest a promising recovery trajectory for the 23-year-old forward.

Despite his absence, Boniface has been actively engaged in fieldwork and training this week, igniting speculation about his imminent return to the squad.

Alonso, speaking on possible return date, hinted that Boniface could potentially make his comeback during Bayer Leverkusen’s forthcoming home clash with Hoffenheim scheduled for March 30.

“He’s not ready yet, but next week we have an international break and we’ll use the time to take a step forward with him,” the Leverkusen Coach said.

“Maybe for Hoffenheim if everything goes well, but we’ll see.

“We need to have a bit more patience but he’s close to getting back on the pitch.”

Boniface was having a debut campaign to remember with Leverkusen, before joining National team where he suffered the injury.

The striker has 16 goals and eight assists in 23 games for the Bundesliga leaders in all competitions.
