Awaziem begins pre-season with FC Porto

Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has resumed training his Portuguese club FC Porto.

The versatile defender returned to the club after spending the 2019-2020 season with Spanish club CD Leganes, but unable to help them avoid relegation.

Awaziem was spotted training with the rest of the squad on Monday, although his future at Estadio Dragao is still up in the air.

Some clubs in Turkey and Germany have registered their interest in taking the defender on loan for next, and Porto hierarchy will make their decision known in the coming weeks.

Awaziem is the second Nigerian on the payroll of the club after Zaidu Sanusi also signed up last week.

The 23-year-old defender joined FC Porto from Santa Clara on a five-year deal.

Sanusi was impressive last season with Santa Clara in the Portuguese Primeira Liga where he scored one goal in 24 league appearances which attracted the attention of the Portuguese gaint.

Zaidu has previously enjoyed stints with Portuguese club Gil Vicente and Mirandela in his early days in Portugal.
