Ben Iroha urges Rohr to start Eagles best XI against Cameroon

Former AFCON winner and Super Eagles defender, Benedict Iroha has called on the coach of the Eagles, Gernot Rohr to make sure he works on selecting the best players in his team ahead of their round of 16 clash against Cameroon tomorrow at the ongoing AFCON Egypt 2019.

Saturday’s encounter at the 20,000 –capacity Alexandria Stadium will be a fight-to-finish, as both teams are undergoing some sort of restructuring in playing personnel and introspection on recent below-par performances.

Despite lifting a fifth African title in Gabon 30 months ago, Cameroon failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup and were less than convincing in qualifying for this tournament.

Speaking to www.brila.net ahead of what many have tagged the final before the final, Iroha, winner of the competition in 1994 in Tunisia, also called on Tour fielding his enemies just for the sake of winning as Westerhoff also did the same during his playing days.

“The coach has to work on his selection and give is the best, the best players should play”.

“During our time, Westerhoff enemies played, no sentiments, nothing”.

“The best players should play, whether you are friends or enemies, the best players should play. It’s all about winning and they have to make sure they win, it’s business”.
