Chelsea are reportedly set for a major breakthrough in their hopes of tieing Belgian Captain and talisman Eden Hazard down to a new long-term deal.
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport, as cited on Sports Witness, the Belgian is finally ‘ready to accept’ Chelsea’s contract offer, amid talk of a move to Real Madrid.
The report claims that Hazard has been offered a deal worth €18 million a year, which once converted into sterling is worth just over £300,000 a week.
The Blues are going to be forced into paying the top money in order to keep Hazard, who has been very honest in his desire to play for Real Madrid.
Hazard has previously explained that he is in two minds over whether or not to sign a new deal as he approaches the peak of his career.
The player will be out of contract at Stamford Bridge at the end of next season and Chelsea are keen to ensure that whatever happens, they do not end up in a similar position as they did with Thibaut Courtois, who left the club on the cheap.
