Covid-19 pandemic halted D’Tigress momentum – Ahmedu

Assistant coach of Nigeria’s women basketball national team Peter Ahmedu has stated that the Covid-19 pandemic has halted what was already a brilliant run for the Nigerian women national team with the postponement of the Olympic games to 2021.

Ahmedu speaking in a chat with  brila.net said the team was on a run already from last year’s Afrobasket success to the Olympic qualifiers in the continent and the world qualifiers with all players in top shape before the Covid-19 induced lockdown halted what had already positioned the team for a good outing at the Olympics.
“It affected the team in many ways but let’s give God the glory. We are hoping that at the time when we will all resume, everybody will be in good health and that’s the most important thing.
“It has actually affected because the moral, the confidence we built from last year to this period before the Coronavirus pandemic come up is great and we have assured Nigerians already that we were going to make a great impact at the games more than what we did at the world cup.”
