Cristiano Ronaldo and Mourinho win big honours at Portuguese Football awards

Real Madrid Forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Manchester United Boss, Jose Mourinho both won massive honours at the Portuguese football awards in Lisbon last night.

Ronaldo, 33, stunned on the red carpet alongside Georgina Rodriguez as he picked up the Quinas de Ouro award for the best Portuguese player.

Ronaldo, who has 37 goals in 35 matches this season, beat Manchester City star Bernardo Silva and Sporting CP keeper Rui Patricio to the gong.

The prize is only three years old – with Ronaldo, unsurprisingly, winning the award on every occasion.

Manchester United boss Mourinho – looking confused as he was handed the prize – was given the Vasco de Gama award for “his work and his role as Portugal’s ambassador for excellence”.

Monaco boss Leonardo Jardim was given the award for best coach in men’s football.

After the awards, the World best Footballer of the year said: ‘It is a prize also for all my colleagues, 2017 was an excellent year, unforgettable both collectively and individually.

“I also dedicate it to my four children, that’s another record, three children in three months.”

‘We have to defend what is ours because there is always a Portuguese in the fight.

I always believe and say that I am the best, whatever they say, and then I show it on the field. We are in the fight year after year.’ Ronaldo concluded.
