Etebo shines in Getate’s draw against Espanyol

Super Eagles midfielder Oghenekaro Etebo was involved in Getafe’s goalless draw with strugglers Español at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez on Tuesday.

Etebo who is on loan from the English Championship side Stoke started the game from the bench but was introduced for into the frey in the 4th minutes.

The former Warri Wolves player replaced Cameroonian international Allan Nyom for his eight appearances since arriving in January.

Despite playing against ten men Espanyol for the most part of the game,  Getafe failed to take advantage as they struggled to break down the visitors.

Etebo became more influential towards the end of the game as his low cross into the opponent’s box problem but was eventually cleared for a corner.

He got another chance in the box but he put his header wide and his teammates failed to convert the follow-up.

Angel almost handed all the points to Getafe, but Espanyol goalkeeper Diego Lopez produced another stunning double save to deny him.

The draw means Getafe are losing ground on finishing in the top four as they have won just once in the last five games.

They remain fifth on the league table with 47 points.
