Everton can beat the drop — Iwobi

Everton midfielder Alex Iwobi says relegation threatened Toffees can’t afford to throw in the towel following defeat at Liverpool.

The Toffes gave themselves a hope of revival with a shocking home win over Arsenal, but were brought down from the high horse at Anfield on Monday, losing 2-0.

Everton were outclassed by the Kops who themselves are experiencing bad spell in the domestic league this season.

The defeat left 18th on the table, with  just 18 points in 22 games, Iwobi believes Everton’s chance of beating the drop remain bright.

“It is a mindset thing. It is having that mentality to go into every game like we did against Arsenal.

“Maybe that wasn’t the same 13 games ago. We have to produce it consistently now. That’s what the manager wants — start with hard work, selfless running, selfless things for the team. And we’ve all bought into it.”

“The defeat is a set back, but we’ll recover.”

The Toffees’ next Premier League game is at home against fellow relegation baters Leeds United on Saturday.

Leeds United are 17th, just a point separating both team.
