Kelechi Iheanacho was subbed off in the 67th minute, while Wilfred Ndidi played the entire duration of Leicester City’s 2-1 home defeat in the Premier League to Everton on Saturday.
Leicester were on the back foot from the get go and paid for it early on when Richarlison struck from inside the box to hand the visitors the lead.
Iheanacho then applied himself, providing an assist for Leicester’s leveler, five minutes before the interval.
However, fate had sealed an L for the Foxes. first captain Wes Morgan was shown a second yellow and got his marching orders just three minutes after the hour mark.
Four minutes on and Claude Puel made a tactical call; withdrawing the Nigerian attacker, for a more defensive approach.
The numerical advantage would eventually count and Gyfil Sigurdsson turned the screw on 77 minutes, with a spectacular strike.
Saturday’s defeat halted the brief run of three wins – in all competitions – the Foxes enjoyed and were brought back down to earth, but they cling to the top half of the table spot after 8 league matches.
