Everton will rely on Iwobi against Liverpool in Merseyside Derby

Alex Iwobi and his Everton teammates will trade tackles with Liverpool in the 240th Merseyside Derby on Sunday.

Iwobi is expected to be in action for the Toffees as they’ll play host to their neighbors at the Goodison Park.

The game is important for Everton who are hoping to avoid their rivals doing the double over them, and get a good win to boost their chances of staying up in the Premier League for next season.

With seven games to go, Everton are only above the relegation zone by one point following Burnley’s victory over Southampton on Thursday.

At the moment, they are 17th in the Premier League, have not won away since August and could be in the drop zone by kick-off.

With that being said, Alex Iwobi has made a great impact to the side lately, so it’ll be no surprise if Frank Lampard banks on the Nigerian to continue to help the team pick up points.

The Nigerian has been one of the best players for the Club since the appointment of Frank Lampard.

“Alex (Iwobi) demanded a place in the team with his performance and he just needs to believe in himself,” Lampard said recently about the Nigerian.

“I certainly believe in him. One of the beauties of coming in like this is it’s a restart for everybody.

“What Alex (Iwobi) has done is that he trained at a great level.”
