As Rivers United gear up for their preliminary round 1st leg game of the CAF Confederations Cup against Rayon Sports of Rwanda, captain of the team Festus Austin speaking with Brila Fm has stated that the onus is on them to restore the nation’s pride in the continental competition, adding that he believes anything is possible if they can get to the group phase of the competition.
The club dropped to the playoff round of the competition after they failed to go past Sudanese club, Al Merreikh who pulled off one of the greatest comeback to progress on 4-3 aggregate in the first round of the CAF Champions League
Meanwhile, Raywon Sport hammered South Sudanese club, Wau Saalam 6-0 over two legs in the preliminary round before prevailing at the expense of Malian club, Onze Créateurs in the first round of the competition.
