Finidi George first Words as Super Eagles Coach

Super Eagles interim head coach, Finidi George is leaving no stone unturned as the team prepares for the friendly games against Ghana and Mali in Morocco.

The first of the two friendlies will see Nigeria facing off against Ghana on Friday at the Grand Stade de Marrakech, followed by Mali four days later.

The camp opened on Tuesday in Morocco, with the former assistant coach overseeing their training session with 15 of the expected 23 players available.

Expressing confidence in his team, Finidi George stated that he is positive the team will meet the expectations of Nigerians in both games.

“Definitely as a coach there is responsibility and that’s what we do. We have to be calm and do the job properly. A lot of Nigerians are watching, so, we want to make them proud.

“The AFCON is gone and these are two games that are crucial, we will take them seriously and make sure we get the best out of them,” the Super Eagles coach said.

“The players are doing a good job in training. It’s not that intense because most of them are just traveling in. The team spirit is good and I’m happy about it.”

The 52 year-old is among the shortlisted candidates for the vacant coaching role.

As Nigeria prepares for the friendlies against Ghana and Mali in Morocco, Finidi George stressed the significance of delivering good results.

Meanwhile, success in these matches could potentially cement his candidacy for the permanent coaching role.
