Former Senegal international, Bouba Diop dies aged 42

Former Senegal international, Papa Bouba Diop has passed away on Sunday after a battle with a long illness according to reports from Senegal.

 

Diop is one of the best players from the Senegalese Golden generation that put the West African nations on the world map.

 

The defensive midfielder scored the lone goal that earned Terrenga Lions a famous win over France at the 2002 World Cup.

 

Diop played for Fulham, Portsmouth and West Ham in the premier league and also French side RC Lens.

 

His death came, just four days after the death of another FIFA World Cup legend, Diego Armando Maradona who passed on Wednesday.
