Nigeria’s second representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Rivers United lost 2 – 1 to their hosts Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea on Saturday.

The match was played at the Estadio De Mongomo stadium and after 90 minutes, Stanley Eguma’s side is still the favorites to move into the Ned round.

Futuro scored the opening goal in the 46th minute through Nkama Gregoire, before they doubled the advantage a few minutes later in the second half.

Rivers United was rewarded for their efforts when they were awarded a penalty and summer signing, Godwin Aguda, stepped forward to make it 2-1.

The Pride of Rivers failed to find the leveler, but they go into the second leg with high hope of turning the ties around.

The second leg is scheduled for Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt next weekend.
