Wouter Vrancken has explained the reason behind replacing Paul Onuachu in the Belgian Cup match against Royal Antwerp on Wednesday night.

Onuachu featured for just over an hour before he was replaced with Mbwana Samatta Genk, but Genk were eliminated, losing 3-0 to Antwerp at home.

Genk manager Wouter Vrancken replaced the Nigerian after the team conceded the third goal on the night and just eight minutes into the second half.

Speaking to the media, Wouter said the decision was made to try an inject something new into the attack.

“I wanted to bring more energy to make the match tilt, so it was important to introduce Samatta.

“They break open the match after an opportunity that we miss. When we look back on the match, we were just not good enough.
