Genk’s boss Wouter Vrancken Charges Onuachu

KRC Genk’s boss Wouter Vrancken said it is important for the team to restart the season on a positive note after the World Cup break.

Racing went into the break with 14 wins from the last 15 matches, with Paul Onuachu netting 13 goals from 14 appearances.

Onuachu was also involved in the winter mid-season trip to Spain, scoring twice as Genk beat Elche and Metz.

With the FIFA World Cup over, the Belgian Jupiler league leaders will restart their campaign against Anderlecht in the Cup game on Wednesday.

The team will then face Kortrijk in their first league game in six weeks on Monday, and Wouter Vrancken has warned his players of the importance of starting well.

“It was almost a mini-preparation for a new season,” says Vrancken at Sporza.

“I’m not going to say we have to start from scratch, but still. It’s not ideal, but we knew it in advance. In any case, it’s important to start well in the competition.”

“Now it is important to start again at the same level against Anderlecht. “In terms of work ethic, we just keep going, yes. You can see the willingness of everyone in the first training sessions. You can never control the results. But we work hard for that.”

The Nigerian is expected to lead the attack with Mike Tresor who is leading the assist chart playing next to him.
