Gernot Rohr inks three year deal with Benin Republic

Ex Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is finally back in coaching after almost being unattached for 15 months.

Rohr has signed to become the new head coach of Squirrels of Benin Republic.

Brila.net understands that the Franco-Grrman tactician has penned a three year contract with Benin Football Association.

Rohr will replace compatriot coach Michel Dussuyer who was sacked following the failure the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations and 2022 World Cup qualification campaign.

The former Girondis Bordeax man is expected to be in charge of the Squirrels Group L 2023 AFCON qualifier against Rwanda in Cotonou next month.

Rohr has huge job on his hands as the Squirrels are currently bottom of Group L after two defeats in their opening two games.

Rohr guided Nigeria to the 2018 FIFA World Cup and 2019 African Cup of Nations before he was fired in December 2021.

With Nigeria, Rohr recorded 35 wins and 16 draws in 64 games.
