Heartland resumes training with 15 players, set to dump Dan Ayam Stadium

Ahead of 2018/19 Nigeria Professional Football League NPFL season, Heartland Football Club of Owerri, yesterday (Monday) resumed pre-season training at Dan Ayamaima Stadium.

According to a release made available to the press by the clubs media department, about 15  players took part in the training session under the watchful eyes of the Ere Dokubo led technical crew.

However, it was gathered that the club retained 15 players from last season team, while other players were offloaded, but there are indications that about 10 to 15 new players will be signed to help fortify the squad ahead the new season.

In another development, the management of the Club are planning for the team to play their home games in the coming 2018/2019 football season away from Dan Ayaima Stadium with newly constructed Okigwe Township Stadium touted as the likely new home.

The Naze Millionaires narrowly escaped relegation last season, benefited from the cancellation of the 2017/18 NPFL league due to the Nigeria Football Federation leadership tussle between Amaju Pinnick and Chris Giwa, which crippled football activities in the country for months.

The club owners subsequently agreed that no top flight club shall be relegated, as Lobi Stars of Makurdi who were topping the league were crowned Champions and will be the Country sole representative in the CAF champions league competition next season.
