Cyriel Dessers believes he has the quality to rival Paul Onuachu for Genk’s top Striker’s position.
Dessers struggled for game time at Genk, before a successful loan spell at Feyenoord, where he scored 21 goals in all competitions last season.
The striker returned to his parent club for the new campaign and with first choice Onuachu injured, Dessers got the nod to lead the attack in their League season’s opener against Club Brugge.
He opened his goal account for the season, repaying the confidence of the Coach, however Genk still lost 3-2.
Speaking to the press, Dessers however believes he has the quality to become the first choice.
“I have the quality and I think everyone could see today (Sunday) that I give everything for Genk and that I can make it difficult for Onuachu,” He said.
Meanwhile, the striker is one of the players left out of the exhibition match with Westerloo, which ended 6-1 in favor of Genk.
