Iwobi scores a header in Everton’s EFL victory

Alex Iwobi opened his goal account as an Everton player following the Toffees’ 4-2 victory over Lincoln City in the EFL second round match on Wednesday.

Iwobi played for 82 minutes in the very testy matchup, under very wet conditions, but put up another impressive show for his new club.

His goal (81′) restored Everton’s lead after Lincoln scored to tie the premier league side 2-2 with 20 minutes left of regular time.

The Nigerian winger scored with a header, a rare occurrence, but the fans loved it and over 20 percent voted him as Man-of the-match.

That honor went to Frenchman Lucas Digne, scored Everton’s first (36′) to bring the side level after the home team took an early lead (1′).

Gyfil Sigurdsson scored just before the hour mark (59′) to give the visitors the lead. However the League One side pushed for an equalizer and were duly rewarded in the 70th minute.

Eleven minutes later Iwobi struck, to give his side the lead, then he made way for Theo Walcott.

Everton weren’t done as on the 88th minute, Brazil international Richarlison scored to seal the side’s progress to the third round of the EFL Cup.
