Iwobi takes positive from Everton’s defeat to Chelsea

Alex Iwobi believes there a lot of positives to take from Everton’s opening day defeat to Chelsea.

Iwobi was outstanding as the Toffees began their 2022-2023 Premier League campaign with a narrow defeat against Chelsea.

The Toffees played good football all through the game with Iwobi at the heart of everything, despite playing in unfamiliar number 6 role.

A fortunate penalty from Brazilian born Italian midfielder Jorginho separated the teams at the end of 90 minutes.

Iwobi, however, believes it was a spirited performance that arguably deserved more, and there are positives to take from the clash.

“A Lot Of Positives To Take.” The Nigerian international wrote on his Twitter account.

Reacting to the result, Everton boss Frank Lampard also shared Iwobi’s sentiment as he insists that the team didn’t deserve to lose.

“I don’t think we deserved to lose. In terms of both boxes and chances we created, I thought we deserved the draw. We had a moment of lack of concentration for the penalty,” Lampard explained.
