Kano Pillars begins post Lionel Soccoia era with a win over Kwara United

Kano Pillars began life under interim boss Ibrahim Musa with a hard fought win over Kwara United in NPFL midweek encounter at the Ahmadu Bello stadium.

Pillars went into the game with just a win in the last five attempts, including an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Abia Warriors in Okigwe last Sunday.

The team also encountered troubles few minutes before the kick off, when French technical adviser Lionel Soccoia resigned from position.

Kwara United on their part were aiming to put an end to their bad a run against Pillars away from home.

But, Pillars were the better side in the first half and unlucky not to go into the break in front, no thanks to goalkeeping masterclass by Kwara United man Dele Aiyenugba.

The first goal of the game arrived a minute after the hour mark, when Rabiu Ali scored from the penalty spot after Ebuka David was upended in the box.

Usman Babalolo sealed the three points for Pillars with a perfect finish, late on to move the club to third on the league table.
