Eguavoen admits Black Stars caught him off guard

Austin Eguavoen says the black stars caught his side by surprise with their all round performance and praised the influence of Coach Otto Addo.

In a chat with the media after the goalless draw between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars in Kumasi on Friday, Eguavoen said, he’s surprised with the Black Stars physicality and fitness.

“Ghana is known for ball circulation and I will say Physically not too strong, but we were surprised today they were physically strong, so we were wrong on that one,” the tactician said.

Speaking further, the former Enyimba and Black Leopard boss disclosed that the Black Stars are improving after the dismal performance at the African Cup Nations, but fances the Super Eagles to go through to the World Cup.

“It
is a team that is in process but they have to wait for another time but this time around I think Nigeria will excel and be in Qatar.” He said.

Both teams clash in the reversed fixture at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, on Tuesday.

The Nigerian delegation to the match in Kumasi returned to Abuja on Saturday morning.
