KAA Gent coach, Hein Vanhaezebrouck has reacted to Gift Orban’s audacious goal attempt during Saturday’s Jupiler Pro League playoff game against Standard Liege, which has got many in Belgium.

Orban was unlucky not to score what would have been goal of the year, as his long range shot – at the start of the game – crashed off the cross bar.

Eventually, Gent went on to win the game, 1-2, and the 20 year-old Nigerian striker did get on the score sheet.

Speaking to the press, Vanhaezebrouck backed the Striker’s growing confidence and describe that sensational moment that never was as “a goal to remember in the whole of Europe.”

“That would have been the goal of the year for all of Europe,” Vanhaezebrouck told Het Nieuwsblad.

“He has a fantastic kick, with the right and with the left. So I was not surprised that he did that and that no one made a problem of it.”
