Liberian president George Weah rewards Eagles players with $2,000 each

George Weah rewarded each player of the Super Eagles with a cash gift of $2,000 each for honouring his invitation for a friendly game to retire his Liberia No 14 jersey.

The cash gift was courtesy of Liberian President George Weah in appreciation of the players’ invitation for a friendly game to retire his No 14 jersey.

The 1995 World Footballer of the Year was delighted that Nigeria presented a strong side including several last players from the recent World Cup in Russia for night’s game.

“We were paid $2,000 each by the President of Liberia,” one of the players at the game informed SCORENigeria.

Weah, 51, now many kilogrammes overweight and far from fit, played for 79 minutes in a game the Eagles won 2-1.

In his playing days, the big striker featured for some of Europe’s best teams – PSG, Monaco, AC Milan, and Chelsea.

that’s wrong for him to do such cash gift to them. Liberians have too many poor people in there like millions of Nigerians. Why giving them such amount of money? He should use it on his people not on Nigerians. I am Igbo Man

Please confirm whether President Weah give each Nigeria Super Eagles players $2000.00 for playing in his Retirement Match.
    Thanks!
