Lionel Messi will be crowned, not La Liga champion, but the most prolific striker in Spain and all of Europe’s major Leagues for the 2016/17 season as his brace against Eibar on Sunday shot him to 37 goals this term.

Lionel Messi will be picking up his fourth Golden boot honors having previously been crowned in 2009/10, 2011/12 and 2012/13.

He beat Sporting Portugal’s Bas Dost to the gong. The former Wolfsburg man came in as runner up with 34 goals.

Similarly, Messi takes home his fourth Pichichi , La Liga’s version of the top scorer’s award.

He blew all competition away, including Cristiano Ronaldo and particularly Ronaldo.

His closest challenger, Luis Suarez banged in 28 goals… Ronaldo managed 25.
