Lookman faults official Serie A decision on controversial Goal

Ademola Lookman insists Atalanta’s second goal against Monza should be count as his, and not an own goal.

Lookman thought he scored his second goal for Atalanta after being found by Ederson at the far post, only for Monza defender Marlon to divert his shot inside the net.

The Nigeria international was initially awarded the goal, but it was later recorded as an own for the Brazilian defender.

Speaking to the press, Lookman said, “I think it’s my goal once again I say it’s my goal but you know yeah the most important is that we got the points and you know we’re first so uh yea.

“Yeah that’s the most important thing um you know for winning games and what they’re about.

“I think it’s a testament to our work on the pitch are training every single day and wanting to get better and striving to be better and that’s the most important,” Lookman concluded.

Atalanta won the game 2-0 and eventually moved to the top of the Italian Serie A.

The former Everton and RB Leipzig forward has one goal and assist for the Gian Piero Gasperini’s side this season.
