Atletico Madrid is reportedly exploring a number of options to strengthen their attack this summer with Almeria’s forward Sadiq Umar rumored to be in consideration.
According to reports, Sadiq Umar is just one of a number of options being considered by Diego Simone’s side.
The Nigerian forward is the most sorted after player in the Spanish Segunda Division following a brilliant debut campaign where he netted 20 league goals.
This term, the 25-year-old has scored 13 goals and assisted 7 in 24 matches for Almeria.
Umar scores an average of 0.59 goals for every 90 minutes. The record is only bettered by his teammates Dyeo Wilverson Ferreira Sousa who has an average of 1.4 goal per 90 minutes, although the Brazilian has made just 15 appearance so far.
This attacking performance place him in 3rd position out of 486 Players who’ve played at least 3 matches in the Segunda Division.
Umar signed for UD Almeria in 2020, after successful spell at Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade.
His impressive form has caught the attention of La Liga giants Barcelona, Sevilla and new English money-bags Newcastle, with trio reportedly preparing a bid for the 192cm-tall forward in July.
However, there are suggestions that it would be difficult to negotiate a transfer for the Nigerian International, who is one of the best forwards in the Segunda B.
Almeria CEO, Mohamed El Assy said few month ago that, they aren’t interested in selling the player to any of the current suitors.
“We want to move up, and we are not going to sell Sadiq in winter.
“On the last market day, we had a great offer for him from a Spanish club, and we didn’t want to sell.” The Almería CEO.
