Maja’s move to Birmingham City falls through

Josh Maja will remain with Girondins Bordeaux after his expected transfer to English Championship club Birmingham City collapsed.

Birmingham were keen on bringing the striker back to England, after agreeing personal terms, but talks between the clubs broke down late last night.

Maja is now likely to sign a two-year contract extension with the French side, with a clause that’ll allow him to leave as a free agent, should they fail to win promotion back to the topflight.

The player made headlines few weeks ago after he agreed a 50 percent salary cut to help reduce financial burdens on the struggling Club.

Maja joined Bordeaux from Sunderland in 2019. He has also spent time on loan at Fulham and Stoke City.

Maja has scored 13 goals in 58 games for Les Girondins.

He scored one and assisted two in the team’s 4-0 win over Quevilly-Rouen on Tuesday.
