Mikel Obi featured for Stoke City in their Championship win over Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday.
Stoke City dominated the match, but had to wait until the 83rd minute for the winner through Steven Fletcher.
Mikel was introduced in the 89th minutes as replacement for the match winner, Fletcher.
The substitution proved to be a success as Stoke City recorded their first win since December 19 and gave their promotion hopes a shot in the arm as well.
It was also their first Championship win in 10 attempts and the maximum points moved them to 9th on the log with 40 points from 30 matches .
