Mjallby star Silas Nwankwo out for 12 months

Super Eagles invitee Silas Nwankwo will be out for the rest of the season, his club, Mjallby revealed.

The Forward sustained a cruciate ligament injury and he’ll undergo surgery, followed by his rehabilitation which is expected to be between nine to twelve months.

He sustained the injury during Mjallby’s last Allsvenskan’s game away to Djurgården.

“Silas has suffered an anterior cruciate ligament tear that will require surgery. Surgery will take place next week and then a 9-12 month rehabilitation awaits before a full return to football is possible,” Rehab manager Amanda Nilsson said.

The Nigerian contributed greatly to the club since joining last winter from Nasarawa United.

Silas Nwankwo has been the team’s top scorer during the season with 9 goals in 28 games.
