Morocco can beat all comers even Nigeria — Waldrum

Nigeria head Coach, Randy Waldrum has revealed his admiration for Morocco ahead of Today’s Women’s Africa Cup of Nations semi-final match and admits the North African side have grown in the last few years.

Already through to the FIFA Women’s World Cup, both teams will now fight for a place in the final of the WAFCON later today at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.

The two teams have only met twice in the history of the competition and Falcons -in the 1998 and 2000 WAFCON group stages – and Nigeria thrashed Morocco 8-0 and 6-0 respectively.

Speaking at his presser on the eve of the game, Waldrum said that he has respect for what the Moroccans have achieved in the last few years, and insists they are capable of beating any team.

“I saw them for the first time in September and I was very impressed by the quality of their team and by the football they play. I said as soon as I arrived in Morocco that they are the team that can surprise.”

“I know how this team has developed for three years now. They are one of the best teams in the competition and are capable of beating any other team.”
