Moses Simon’s FC Nantes retained their Ligue 1 status for next season after edging Toulouse in the play off at the Stade de la Beaujoire on Sunday.
Nantes lost 0-1 to the Ligue 2 side at home in the second leg of the playoff, but they managed to avoid the drop on away goal rule, haven won the first meeting to 1-2 away from home last weekend.
The Super Eagles winger featured in the game and lasted for 83rd minutes, before he was replaced by Andrei Grotto.
Vakoun Issouf Bayo scored the only goal of the game for Toulouse on the 62nd minute with the help of Amine Adli who played in through on goal.
Toulouse’s hopes of getting the second goal were dashed after Nathan N’Goumou picked up his matching order.
The result kept Nantes in the top flight division, while Toulouse will remain in the French second-tier division.
Simon however ended the campaign with six goals, five assists and two yellow cards.
